There come times that what you find, is not what you went for. It was early in the morning in August. I traveled to the wetland of Agios Mamas in Halkidiki, having in mind that the flamingo breeding season had already begun.
Moments before dawn, I am at a thoroughly chosen spot. I have engaged my largest telephoto lense, hidden myself behind the reeds and…waiting.

Waiting until the summer sun has almost caused me hallucination and the stings from the dry grass and insects bites, make me feel like I have rejoint the army. The flamingos never came. But just before I gave up to leave, this tiny face appeared through the reeds. It did not seem to be affected by all this at all. On the contrary, it seemed very comfortable and cheerful in its natural environment and full of curiosity to come closer and get to know me better.
