See me…see you – I met a toad!

Walking through the paths and…suddenly a moment of embarrassment, but also curiosity. Looking to each other and…. I wish I could know what you’re thinking (if you can think) and what you’re feeling (if you can feel), as you see me so huge in front of you.

A numb toad was taking its first steps after hibernation, when we found ourselves in the same path. We were both surprised.

We spent a few seconds looking into each other’s eyes. It was rather weak at that time, still didn’t have the agility he needed to avoid me.

It is true that the peculiar appearance of an amphibian is a deterrent to many of us. The modern lifestyle has caused most people to lose their familiarity with nature and its creatures. We just need to realize, that each of them has a very important role in the ecological balance and of course its appearance is adapted to the environment in which it is intended to live.

I know it won’t stay with me for long. In a few seconds it ostentatiously turns its back on me, and with an acrobatic flip, jumps into the water.

He returns to the edge of the creek and from a safe point he gives me a captivating look, before diving back in and disappearing into the water.
